February salary: KGSG apologizes to civil servants for delay

The Kogi State Government has issued a public apology to civil servants in the Kogi over delay in payment of the February 2020 salary, attributing it to delayed receipt of Federal allocation to the state and a short fall in the amount accrue to the state. In a statement issued by the state commissioner for information and Communication, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo said government have sourced for funds to augment what’s available. He praised the civil servants for their patience and understanding, and assured that payment has since begun and all civil servants are expected to get paid in the next 24 hours. The statement reads; “We want to apologize for the slight delay in the payment of February salary to our patriotic and industrious civil servants in the Kogi State. Kogi LG Polls: Okovi Clans Endorse Okene Administrator For Chairmanship Seat

The chairmanship ambition of Okene Local Government Administrator, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad received another boost as the leadership of the seven clans of Okovi descendants endorsed his aspiration. The clan leaders made this known when they paid the Administrator a courtesy visit on Monday. The commended his style of leadership, adding that the council boss has performed excellently well and deserve to be elected back to office as Executive Chairman.  In a letter of endorsement presented to the Council Administrator by the National Chairmen of the seven clans of Okovi descendants, the forum maintained that their desire to support the Chairmanship ambition of Hon. Abdulrazaq were born out of his efforts to transform the Council to a more habitable environment for the citizenry. According to the clan leaders, Hon. Abdulrazaq has consistently pilot the affairs of the Council and maintained security of lives and property, making Okene one of the safest towns in Kogi State.

Some Kogi State Government officials on Friday afternoon had hectic time controlling angry Participants protesting alleged poor handling at a two weeks STEP UP training and empowerment programme inside the Glass House, Lokoja. The about 400 beneficiaries drawn from the 21 Local Governments in the State were unhappy over their inability to access funds and tools which organisers had allegedly promised to give them at the end of the programme. The STEP UP skill acquisition training programme is an intiative of Her Excellency Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of the Vice President, with support from Kogi State Governor’s wife, Rashida Bello. It was conceived to compliment the All Progressives Congress, APC, Social Investment Programme, SIP and has been carried out in 21 states with Kogi being the 22nd. The Nigeria Police on Monday said GUO, Ezenwata and Young Shall Grow luxury buses were not hijacked by bandits on the Lokoja-Okene road. This was contained in a statement in Lokoja by the Kogi State Police Command spokesman, DSP William Aya. He said some persons were attempting to manipulate “the mindsets of Nigerians and the good people of the State that, Kogi State is not safe.” “Such incident never occurred in Kogi State and the Command has not received any such report. “The Commissioner urged the law abiding citizens of the state to go about their lawful businesses and to always avail the security agencies with credible information on the existence of criminal elements in the state,” he said. Aya also assured residents and Nigerians travelling through the state of police renewed commitment to the protection of lives and property.
