Kogi chief judge, Ajanah, is dead

The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Nasiru Ajanah, is dead. Justice Ajanah died in Abuja on Sunday. He died after a brief illness at the age of 64. The justice’s death is coming exactly a week after the state lost the President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Ibrahim Shaibu Atadoga, after a brief illness. PDP made the remark while berating Buhari over the recent rise of insecurity across the country. The opposition party condemned the increasing armed robbery and kidnapping activities in Kaduna and Kogi States. Recall that some armed herdsmen had a  few days ago invaded Tudu village  in Doka, Kufana District of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna. The attack left nine persons dead while many houses were destroyed by fire. Similarly, about  23 persons were killed  during a robbery incident that occurred on Thursday at a commercial bank in Isanlu area of Kogi State. Bello Vs Wada’s: Tribunal affirms Bello as Kogi governor

The Kogi State Governorship election tribunal sitting in Abuja has dismissed a petition brought before it by Musa Wada of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenging the re-election of Yahaya Bello as governor. Mr Wada had approached the tribunal to challenge the re-election of Mr Bello and the All Progressives Congress (APC). that polled 406,222 votes to defeat the (PDP)’s candidate, Mr Wada, who scored 189,704 votes. The petitioners lawyer, Jibril Okutepa, had urged the tribunal to uphold the petition and declare Mr Wada as the duly elected governor of Kogi state. Mr Okutekpa argued that his clients won the majority of lawful votes cast in the election. They called a total of 32 witnesses to prove their claim that the election was marred by irregularities, violence, ballot snatching and non-compliance with the electoral act and the constitution. Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has ordered the suspension of Mr Abdulmumuni Danga, Commissioner for Water Resources in the state, who assaulted and raped a lady over a Facebook post. Sources revealed to SaharaReporters that the governor has also ordered an accelerated investigation into the case. SaharaReporters had reported how the commissioner kidnapped, assaulted and raped the lady identified as Elizabeth Oyeniyi before releasing her.
